Cyclone Alfred March 2025
As we prepare for Cyclone Alfred in South-East Queensland, we are focused on the safety and wellbeing of all of our employees and the people we support in the region.
As we provide a critical service, we will work together to ensure we are all safe and the people we support are safe.
Working from home – ICT
If you are in a role where you are able to work from home, please:
- print and read the work from home ICT preparation fact sheet before you leave your workplace today. There are important actions you need to take to check you are set up to work from home.
- Take your laptop and printed work from home ICT preparation fact sheet home with you each day this week.
- Keep your laptop and mobile phone fully charged at home in case of power outage. Disconnect your laptop charge from the power outlet BEFORE a storm.

North Queensland Floods January to February 2025
North Queensland floods 2025 and leave applications
Natural Disaster leave
Employees located in areas of North Queensland declared a natural disaster due to the floods in January – February 2025 are eligible to apply for a maximum of five days Natural Disaster leave during the week of Sunday 2 February and Sunday 9 February 2025 through Peoplesoft in one or more of the following circumstances:
• Where an employee was rostered to work at a site that was closed due to the event and they were not deployed to work at another site.
• Where the safety of the employee of their family would be threatened if they were to continue to attempt to attend work by their usual means of transport and/or
• Where the employee is required to remain at home to have temporary repairs effected, restore belongings or clean up.
Personal or Carers leave
Employees can apply for personal or carers leave during the week of Sunday 2 February and Sunday 9 February 2025 if needed to stay home to care for dependents who had their usual care arrangements cancelled as a result of the North Queensland floods. The leave application in Peoplesoft would need to have evidence of the cancellation or closure attached.
Community Solutions Apprentices and Trainees
Apprentices and Trainees whose host employer or block training provider were impacted by the North Queensland floods will have leave applications reviewed on a case by case basis.

In an emergency
In the event of an emergency, we rely on our Emergency Response Team (ERT) to keep us updated. Often events can be dealt with on a local level, but some responses require a more coordinated response. This is decided by the ERT.
We will communicate important information to families, people we support and employees we support as required.
Be prepared! Cyclones
🏠 Clean gutters and downpipes.
🪟 Repair any loose fittings and broken seals around windows.
🌳 Trim trees and branches (be careful of powerlines).
📦 Secure large, loose items around your home.
📄 Check your insurance is up to date and provides suitable coverage.
⚡ Make sure you know where and how to turn off the main supply for water, power, and gas.
🔧 If renting, let your property manager know about maintenance issues now.

This plan provides clear guidelines for managing major events and incidents (‘event’) during the Christmas and New Year leave period. The document is provided to ensure that all staff are prepared to respond effectively by:

- defining a process for a temporary stand-up Emergency Response Team (ERT)
