Defence Assistance Program (DAP) teams from RAAF Base, Amberley and Gallipoli Army Barracks, Enoggera joined forces to celebrate the achievements of 2023 and International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) in December.
The sixty strong community made up of DAP teams, families and carers and Defence representatives had a great time at a BBQ picnic at Grinstead Park, Enoggera.

The picnic for the two DAP teams followed a Skype presentation by key Defence representatives to all of the DAP teams across Australia acknowledging IDPwD.
The DAP team at RAAF Amberley had another exciting end of year celebration, a surprise tour of the E/A-18G Growler aircraft on the 6 Squadron flight line. This was a thank you from Defence personnel for the DAP team’s “enduring support and hard work throughout the year.”
Take a read of the full article, ‘Growler Tour for job well done’ (2 min), published by Flight Lieutenant Katrina Thomasson on the Defence News website.
It features employee we support, Madisen Ward, who has been working with DAP at Amberley for six years and is an important part of the Headquarters Combat Support Group combined registry office.
“I really enjoy being part of the registry team and feel like I’ve achieved a lot,” she said.
“I do work such as ordering supplies, scanning and answering enquiries and most of all I enjoy the responsibility of the work. It’s great working alongside the Defence uniforms and I love the people I work with.”
