Supporting more women in construction

Community Solutions’ Apprentice and Trainee team were selected to deliver the Women in Construction (WiC) program for 2024, working with RoadTek, a branch of the Department of Transport and Main Roads. This is a unique opportunity for women to enter the construction industry through a structured training and employment program, and we are excited to be a part of this initiative.

The WiC Program, has consistently offered a safe entry into a traditionally male-dominated industry. It provides a structured learning environment and the opportunity to achieve a Certificate III in Civil Construction upon completion. Now, with Community Solutions leading the charge, we are ready to welcome a new era of opportunity for women in construction.

The program will host approximately 20 participants who will undertake their traineeships through Community Solutions, including a 3-week intensive program starting in Brisbane and then the participants will return to their home regions:

  • Gold Coast
  • Brisbane
  • Sunshine Coast
  • Wide Bay
  • Mackay and Cairns
  • Central Qld (Rockhampton)
  • Northern Qld (Townsville, Cloncurry)

The partnership between Community Solutions and RoakTek marks a moment in the journey towards gender equality and diversity in the construction industry. We are thrilled to be a part of this initiative and look forward to the success stories that will emerge from this collaboration.

Stay tuned for more information, which will be released in early 2024!
