“I believe in what Endeavour Foundation does, and giving back is a small sacrifice to help us keep doing what we do for the people we support,” – Simon Northey, Endeavour Foundation Group Asset Manager

With each pay cycle, a growing number of the wider Endeavour Foundation team have been doing their bit to make change possible for people with intellectual disability. With over $40,000 raised, 2021 has been one of our biggest years yet for both fundraising and for the impact it’s having.
This growth and impact are something long-time workplace giver Endeavour Foundation Group Asset Manager Simon has seen year in and year out during his time in the program. Whether it was buying lottery tickets or being among the first in the workplace giving program, Simon has been eager to give back.
“It’s a way to reinvest in the work you do with minimal impact to you,”
The focus of the workplace giving program now is Thrive, Endeavour Foundation’s ever-growing learning resource for people with intellectual disability – a resource that has made its way throughout our sites and even into the wider community.
We’re excited by this program because it is acting as the starting point for a wave of new ideas being developed by our Service Design team, including the likes of new VR modules and the Get Work Ready program – a solution that is similarly seeing fast impact for the people we support.
“You can see what giving back is doing for people with intellectual disability firsthand right here in the Support Centre with Thrive being part of the day to day for our wonderful colleagues with disability.”
Among those at Support Centre taking part in Thrive are Maddi and Fallon – two fantastic examples of how the wide variety of learning modules can be adapted to unique life goals.
Maddi has her heart set on living independently.

“This year I got to start on Thrive and have done modules on relationships, and I’m now doing ‘Working effectively with Others’ and ‘Get Ready for work’.
I have learnt so much about myself and others. I have learnt to read emotions in others which is an important skill. This will help with my goal to live by myself and have full independence”
Alongside Maddi in the Thrive sessions, Fallon is working hard towards her career goal of being a receptionist.

“I want to be a receptionist. It will be more busy. It’s a more complex position and it will help me to have a great language repertoire.
I really want to stay with Endeavour and would like to be the Receptionist here.
In Thrive, I have learned to work effectively with others and other skills through the Get Work Ready program.
This has included stuff like being more tactful, helping people, meeting people, answering the phone and transferring calls. I like that I have a really supportive framework to do this. My support worker Aaron is helping me to work towards my goal.”

And this is just the tip of the iceberg, for both Maddi and Fallon and for what can be achieved through Thrive. As we continue to invest in the development of new modules, the number of possibilities in the home, at work and in the community will go through the roof.
Thank you to all who have helped make this possible for Maddi, Fallon and others throughout 2021. If you would like to play your part and give back you can do so every pay cycle through workplace giving or with a one-off donation in our current appeal.

Here’s to a bigger and bolder 2022 🙌
