Susan thrives with Active Support

Susan lives on the Gold Coast and has been part of our community for 40 years. She’s worked as a supported employee for much of that time and has since retired from employment but she’s still reaching new milestones every day.

At 69 years young, Susan recently took part in our Person Centred Active Support Training, and it’s already made a big difference in her daily life.

Before the training, Susan would usually have her breakfast made for her but after attending the “Every Moment Has Potential” session, support worker Gail Moutney asked Susan if she’d like to try making her own omelette.

Susan responded enthusiastically, and with Gail’s support, she cooked her own breakfast. She was so proud of the achievement that she told everyone she saw that day:

I made my own breakfast!

Now, with regular support, Susan continues to prepare her breakfast, a small change that’s become a meaningful part of her daily routine.
