Support to Success: Jenny’s Journey with Kristine

If you know Support Coordination Team Leader Jenny Moss, you know she’s not one to seek the spotlight. But her extraordinary work has not gone unnoticed. Thanks to a heartfelt nomination from the family of Kristine, a Support Coordination participant, Jenny was named a finalist for the 2024 Fisher Community Awards, and was a nominee in the 2024 Carers QLD Carer Friendly Business Awards.

Kristine’s sister Tracie, who nominated Jenny for these awards, shared how Jenny went above and beyond for Kristine.

Jenny just gave and gave and gave – good strategies, emotional support… She was so genuine and caring, and I really felt like she was on our team.

“We were going through some really tough stuff. Jenny just jumped in and helped out. I thought her help would be minimal, but it was amazing,” Tracie said.

Kristine, who has Down syndrome and early-onset dementia, faced a serious situation when her NDIS funding for Support Coordination ran out earlier this year. It left Tracie scrambling to figure out what to do next.

“Kristine’s funding was delayed so I didn’t expect any support. When we finally got a NDIS review, Jenny was so helpful. Her suggestions and guidance were really invaluable, she made me feel reassured and confident that we had the right person on the team,” Tracie said.

For Jenny, the recognition was unexpected but deeply appreciated. “It was a complete surprise,” she said.

This kind of work takes a team. We’ve got amazing people at Community Solutions and Endeavour Foundation, and it’s a joy to work with families and make those connections.

Jenny worked closely with Endeavour Foundation Home Site Supervisor Mel Farley to ensure Kristine received the right support. Together they managed an intense process, helping to navigate the complexities of funding and care for Kristine.

“I think for Tracie, she appreciated the fact that sometimes we went above and beyond what she expected,” Jenny shared. “It’s about making sure the participant gets what they need and families feel supported too.”

Tracie acknowledged Mel’s incredible efforts submitting a nomination for her work with Jenny and Kristine. She said, “Mel and Jenny really worked as a team. I felt like we were all united, and that made such a difference.”

Congratulations Jenny on this well-deserved recognition!
