Yesterday, the team at Townsville social enterprise hosted their inaugural Employment Showcase, welcoming people of all abilities to learn about #TeamPossible career opportunities and how we can support them on their work journeys.

Executive General Manager for Work, Eric Teed spoke on ABC North Queensland to promote the event to the public and advocate the benefits of a diverse workforce.

There are so many people looking for work and we are so delighted to have the roles, training, assistance, and experience to ensure our people feel supported in whatever role they choose to pursue

“[And] when you have large organisations like the Defence Force also recognise the benefits of [a diverse workforce], who recently awarded Endeavour Foundation the national contract for the Defence Administration Assistance Programme (DAAP), that’s a clear statement of their willingness to be inclusive and improve their productivity.”

The Employment Showcase was a great success. Over the course of the day:

  • 50 people visited Townsville social enterprise,
  • six job applications were submitted,
  • seven applications were brought home by potential employees,
  • four grade 12 school-aged potential employees expressed that they were very keen, and
  • one application was submitted to attend Townsville L&L hub.
