Please join us in congratulating our Service Design team, who were commended at the Innovation and Technology Across Care (ITAC) conference last month for the development and implementation of our Get Work Ready program.

Service Design and Implementation Partner, Chris Beaumont, was present to accept our award in the ‘Excellence in digital workforce development’ category, which recognises #TeamPossible’s outstanding efforts in cultivating a skilled and innovative digital workforce. It highlights the Service Design team’s work in digital skills development, fostering adaptability, and promoting digital literacy within the modern workplace.
The program is delivered with a really collaborative approach. We provide coaching and support to help participants make choices about when and if they’re ready for work, build confidence, and choose what kinds of work they’d like to do by offering practical, hands-on experience.

The Get Work Ready program is a digital learning tool, based on a 3-year study led by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to tailor digital learning to people with intellectual disability through online short videos.
As part of this model, the videos are supported with guides, workbooks and assessments to guide participants’ learning through small, manageable steps, and can be tailored to their individual needs with the support of a facilitator.
As the name suggests, this service offering empowers young people to ‘get work ready’ as they transition from school and other activities to their chosen employment pathway. Some core subjects covered include digital administration, technology, customer service, logistics and warehousing, and packaging and manufacturing.
We also successfully leverage the Get Work Ready program with older employees to explore key skill development at social enterprises that specialise in manufacturing and warehousing. This is facilitated by the wonderful employment coaches and production team leaders at these services, who use the program to support employees to grow professionally and upskill.
Not only are participants proud of their course achievements, but they are now more confident in their ability to pursue their individual work goals and chosen employment pathway.

Jessy, from Toowoomba social enterprise, completed the Get Work Ready program to prepare him for mainstream employment.
Whether it’s assisting his teammates on the production line, filing paperwork, or supporting community activities, Jessy loves helping out where he can.
The program provided him with vocational skills and practical experience to progress towards his dream role.
“I did the Get Work Ready program because I want to be a support worker to help people with disability,” he said.
“I am passionate (about) helping people with disability, and help them achieve their goals, and be treated like everyone else.”
“I want to show everyone that people with disability can do anything that they put their mind to.”
“Doing this program, I have made new friends, learned new skills, and revisited computer skills I learned during high school,” he said.
