Security training – it’s new, it’s modern

Recently, UnitingCare, a national healthcare and community service provider like Endeavour Foundation, were the victims of a cyber-attack on their data files and devices. This attack impacted their operations, customers and staff and highlighted the importance of ensuring that we are all cyber security aware.

With the help and expertise of our ICT team, the Cyber Security training has been revamped and trialled by staff who tell us the course is highly relevant, with ample examples of how cyber security breaches take place in our workplace. The training will help you to identify the tricks and techniques hackers may use to breach our network.

This new course will form part of our annual training program. It will take approximately 30 mins to complete.

What’s next?
By next week you will receive a notification from Engage inviting you to complete the training module. You will have 30 days to complete the course.

Please prioritise completing this training module, visit the intranet to see the FAQs and speak with your leader if you have any questions.

FAQs

How is this training different to the old training in Engage?

Previously we had a 10 minute cyber security module which covered the basic concepts of cyber security, but was outdated. The new Security Awareness Training is a comprehensive 30 min self-paced course, provided by a leading security training vendor. It includes the modern ways that a security attack may take place. It’s a practical course and has a quiz at the end to test your knowledge.

Why do I need to know about cyber or physical security?

It’s important for all staff to know how to detect security breaches to ensure that an organization is protected. Security attacks can take many forms, online and offline. Online examples include ‘phishing’ which is a way that cybercriminals steal confidential information about customers or your organization, or even offline methods like ‘social engineering’ where criminals may impersonate someone within your organization in order to gain access to the building. The most common and modern ways of detecting a security attack is covered in the Security Awareness Training course.

Do I need to complete it more than once?

Yes, the training will need to be completed every year. You will receive an automatic notification of your re-enrollment via Engage.

I can’t click the Next button – how do I progress throughout the training?

There are various sections in the training where you need to click on icons or watch videos in order to proceed throughout the training. If the Next button isn’t clickable it means you haven’t watched the video all the way to the end or haven’t clicked on all the icons on the page.

I have already completed this training via the KnowBe4 platform but it is not showing in Engage as completed – what do I do?

If you have already completed the training within the KnowBe4 platform and it is not displaying as completed in Engage please forward a copy of your completion certificate to [email protected] to be awarded recognition of prior learning.
