QArt artworks bring disability action plan’s vision to life

On 15 May, QArt Gallery and Studio artists attended the launch of the 2024-2028 Boroondara Disability Access and Inclusion Plan. The plan demonstrates the Boroondara City Council’s continued commitment to making their community more inclusive and accessible for people with disability. One of the highlights from the launch event was the unveiling of 13 artworks. These pieces were produced by our QArt artists who were commissioned by the City of Boroondara to bring the plan’s vision to life. And boy, did they deliver!

Congratulations to those featured including Julian Campomizzi, Ashlea Sergarkis, Henry Deakin, Tiffany McBroom, Sarah Gibson, Mya Wilson, Jarrod Wendt, Tara Wood, Miranda Millane, Kitty Yiu, Jordan Dymke, Tara Scott, and Sammi-Jo Matta.

During the launch event, Sarah and Henry also took the stage to share their experiences in being part of the project.

Gallery Supervisor, Lily Platts, watched on proudly as they spoke openly about their employment journeys and artistic endeavours.

“Hearing their stories underscored the importance of initiatives like this in fostering empowerment and representation within our community,” she said.

“Overall, the launch was a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity in driving positive change.”
