Endeavour Foundation secures its people
Throughout the year, we introduced measures to improve our ability to protect what’s important – the personal details of our people.
Following the recent spike in security breaches of some well-known organisations, we are on even higher alert against cybersecurity threats.
The sad news is more than half of all security breaches against charities are caused by malicious or criminal cyberattacks. It’s our job to make sure we protect our data – and that’s exactly what we’ve been doing and will continue to do.
Ongoing security enhancements will focus on proactive data protection so we can:
- comply with regulations to detect and prevent data breaches
- confirm ‘you are who you say you are’ when you are using our devices and accessing apps
- verify the right people are accessing and administering our accounts
- improve our ability to detect unusual activity, and
- protect sensitive data.
More information will be released in the new year on the part you can play to enhance our security practices.
In addition, the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) project will allow you to further strengthen access to your account. Introducing an additional step for all employees to verify their identity via their mobile phone when accessing work apps and information is one of the best methods of protection against cyber criminals. You are likely doing this verification step already each time you access your online bank accounts.
If you are not yet using MFA, you will hear from us soon. If you are already using MFA, the IT Service Desk can help you get the most out of the security solution with tips on using fingerprint or facial recognition for authentication.
If you have any questions, talk to your line manager or contact the IT Service Desk on 1300 742 212.
