If you visit our Penrith Learning and Lifestyle (L&L) hub around lunchtime, you may be lucky enough to sample some of Ben’s delicious gourmet pizza. Ben enjoys developing his skills in and out of the kitchen, facilitated through programs at the hub that are aligned with people’s preferences and interests. For Ben, these are cooking and photography.
“I learn a lot, like making good food,” he said. “We cook together on Mondays. It’s really fun.”
I also take photos because I like to be creative. It’s amazing. My favourite place to take photos is down by the garden. It’s all very nice to me.
Ben said while his job at Castle Hill social enterprise supports him with his work goals, the hub gives him a relaxing environment where he can unwind while learning life skills.
“I like Penrith L&L because it’s where I like to go to take a break from work and learn about stuff,” he said.
The wonderful team at Penrith L&L, including Team Leader, Ryan Kungl, is proud to support Ben to achieve his goals in a safe and supportive environment where everyone is welcome.
“What makes the job fun is no two days are the same,” Ryan said.
Through our really broad range of programs, we are always doing something new, having the people we support experience new things, and teaching them new things.
“On Wednesday 28 August, we have our Penrith Celebrating Day, so I hope to see as many people as possible down here!”
