Easy access to the Noosa River is more than a convenience for participants at Wallace Park Learning and Lifestyle hub – it’s a gateway to building confidence, skills, independence and feeling empowered.

Every Thursday, Jason and Zak and their peers eagerly participate in Sailability, a program run in partnership with Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club. Guided by qualified instructors, they navigate 12-foot dinghies, improving their problem-solving and teamwork skills while discovering their potential.
Julie Elford, Site Manager at Wallace Park, shares,
“Activities like sailing empower people with disability to experience independence and achieve their goals. It’s about supporting everyone to live their best lives.”

As they steer their boats and master the waves, Jason, Zak, and their peers are not just learning to sail – they’re proving that with the right support, anything is possible.
With an exciting regatta celebration on the horizon, these moments on the water are creating lasting memories and helping people to feel empowered as they ride the waves toward their dreams.
Jason shared, grinning with anticipation,
“I am going on the red boat, and I am going to have a lovely, lovely day – and get wet”
Zak added with excitement, “I am going to have the best day ever.”
Under the guidance of expert instructors, these weekly sessions are more than fun – they are life-changing. People get to develop critical life skills such as problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. With every session, they grow more confident in their abilities and more independent.
With the support from Julie and the team at the Wallace Park Learning and Lifestyle hub, they’re proving that the sky – and the horizon – is the limit.
