Macramé magic: Glenn and Leanne turn knots into a micro business

What started as a creative Monday group at Bundaberg L&L has blossomed into a full-blown entrepreneurial adventure.

Glenn Stoddart and Leanne Richards joined the macramé group earlier this year, keen to test their skills and learn something new. A few months (and many metres of cord) later, they’re now running a small business, selling their handmade creations directly from the centre office.

With plans to build up their stock and take their products to local markets, the duo has a clear vision as well as some serious crafting momentum.

I want to make something macramé for every occasion in the year,

said Glenn, proudly.

They’ve already made items for Valentine’s Day and Easter and are now thinking ahead to Mother’s Day and beyond. Whether it’s festive decorations or practical pieces like keychains, plant holders or wall hangings, Glenn and Leanne’s creations are colourful, detailed, and made with love and care.

Their new venture has given them more than just a hobby it’s brought a sense of ownership, independence, and pride.

In true Glenn fashion, the team says he’s already brainstorming a name and logo for the duo’s future market stall. Keep an eye out!

They’ve been learning new techniques, growing in confidence, and proving that with a bit of string and a whole lot of heart, you can tie up some pretty impressive dreams.
