Eleven talented artists from Gladstone and Biloela L&L hubs officially unveiled their sculptural artworks in the arrivals area of Gladstone Airport on Wednesday, launching an Art-Port exhibit titled ‘Sea Country Sculptural Works’.
This is the first time these emerging artists have exhibited works; a result of a 12-session masterclass and a grant supplied by the Gladstone Region Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) to fund the artists in residence and resources required to participate in the exhibit.

To learn, and to have fun while openly expressing oneself, is an incredibly empowering experience and a valuable opportunity,”
We couldn’t be prouder of the works our artists have created.
In addition to the grant, we’re also grateful for the assistance offered by the Biloela Focus Group, who helped raise funds for our Biloela L&L hub artists, to journey the two-hour drive every fortnight to participate in the 12 masterclasses in preparation for the event.

Contributing artist Justina Boen said she felt happy to have her artwork on display.
I made the octopus and helped with the tree. It’s fun!

The new Art-Port display will give people a momentary escape from their hasty travel plans, as they journey through the artists’ interpretation of the region’s country and sea.

Art provides an endless platform for inclusive creativity. It’s in the eye of the beholder and can help extract incredible creative genius, no matter who you are
Some of our most famous artists including Michelangelo and Vincent Van Gough are documented as being artists with a disability… something you may not have known if you hadn’t been told because their artistic talents spoke for themselves.

The Art-Port project will run for three months at the Gladstone Airport, located within the Arrivals terminal. We welcome you to view this incredible exhibit in person if you are in the area.
