This was Geebung employee, Kassidy Skinner’s wish when she entered our Imagine What’s Possible competition last year in celebration of our 70th anniversary.

After receiving hundreds of incredible entries, Kassidy and four other people in our services were chosen as our lucky winners.

Watch her reaction when she found out her wish was coming true:

Kassidy said she felt “excited and happy inside” when she realised her dream of “a ball in Brisbane Town Hall” for people with disability and their friends and family was becoming a reality.

I have so much pleasure dancing and I want other people to experience the joy I have.

We have a limited number of tickets remaining, so please share this exciting event with the people we support, their friends and families. It will be a night to remember in one of Queensland’s most significant heritage and cultural venues – Brisbane City Hall.

To honour Kassidy’s vision for her Ball, in Kassidy’s words, “I want to have everyone with a disability join me to dance in a big magical place”, the event organisers will be prioritising remaining tickets for people with disability and their friends and family members.

Kassidy’s five tips for a great night:

  1. Plan ahead: Make sure you know how you will get to the venue before the ball and go home after.
  2. Dress to impress: Wear your most fancy clothes and shoes. Just make sure you are comfortable.
  3. Make friends: Lots of people will be coming to the ball. Have fun with your friends and make new friends too!
  4. Get some photos: Make sure you take photos of yourself with your family and friends! There will also be a photo booth where you can get your photo taken.
  5. Dance and enjoy: Kassidy loves to dance. There will be music playing so you can dance too!
