Jarrod has been working at Innisfail social enterprise for over 11 years. During this time, he has worked hard to develop his skills and knowledge. With support from Production Manager, Gordon McDermid, Jarrod has grown into a reliable and dedicated team member. He became a key part of the team, especially during busy times and staff shortages. Jarrod also became a mentor, helping his colleagues with daily tasks.
Jarrod’s hard work and enthusiasm have made him a valuable member of the Innisfail team. With Gordon’s support, Jarrod got his open class driver’s license, which allowed him to take on more responsibilities independently.
But Jarrod had another dream: getting his forklift license. At first, he thought this was just a dream. However, with encouragement from the staff at Innisfail, Jarrod decided to go for it. He told his employment coach, “I don’t think I will pass the test,” but with their support and reminders that he controlled his outcomes, he attended the training and got his learner forklift ticket.
Jarrod practised a lot with help from Gordon and Production Team Leader, Jeff Tillack. He was good at the practical parts of the training but was worried about the theory. Still, he studied hard for several months. When he took the test, he was nervous but determined.
“I didn’t think I would pass, especially the math,” Jarrod said with a big smile after finishing the test.
Now, Jarrod helps with loading and unloading pallets every day. His team is very proud of him.
Great job, Jarrod!
