Ian Nel’s journey from South Africa to Australia wasn’t without its challenges, and at 53, Ian knew all too well the obstacles that come with re-entering the workforce later in life.
However, he refused to let age define his prospects. Recognising his potential, Community Solutions Field Officer, Aaron Hamil, (left) worked with Ian to get him a traineeship that suited his skills and aspirations.
In March 2024, Ian stepped into a Supply Chain traineeship at Pacific Crown Helicopters, and from day one, has exceeded expectations. This has earnt him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
His overseas qualifications may not have been recognised in Australia, but his extensive experience has proven to be invaluable.
