270,000 Australian-trained professionals make up the team that supports more than 450,000 Australians with disability to live their best life.
This is all possible because of the NDIS, as it allows people with disability to have the choice and control over their supports and the team around them.
But with pressures from the Federal Government to cut access and support levels, it’s now more important than ever to show how the NDIS benefits people with disability.
That’s why National Disability Services (NDS) has recently released a campaign to keep the NDIS strong, called Teamwork Works.
As part of this campaign, they shine a light on real life stories – like Rogers’, which demonstrates how important the NDIS is to him.
Meet Rogers and his team
Rogers experiences bouts of short-term memory loss because of a previous medical condition. He has been staying in supported independent living accommodation while he works to improve his memory.
Because of the NDIS, Rogers has choice and control over his supports and has built a supportive team around him.
He has Lovena, his Senior Admin Support, who supports him when it comes to crossing things off his to-do list, like buying phone credit and scheduling appointments.
Rogers also has two support workers – Rebecca and Nelson – to support him in the community.
Want to get involved in the Teamwork Works campaign?
There is no better way to show the importance of a strong NDIS than telling your experiences of the NDIS like Rogers has.
You can share your story with the NDS, or any way you’d like through your networks, like social media.
You can also send your story to [email protected] and you’ll have the chance to feature in one of our stories to promote the campaign!
You can also:
- Join the campaign so you can stay up to date with all the news and most recent actions
- Take the survey so NDS can demonstrate the positive impacts of the NDIS
- Spread the word about Teamwork Works
We encourage you to get involved in the campaign so we can keep making possibilities a reality for people we support.
