With thanks to a recent grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, Alex Hills L&L hub has undergone a welcome transformation to its outdoor area.
The previously large, open paved area was underutilised and difficult to navigate due to uneven pavers. The project involved repairing pavers, upgrading ground edging and installing approximately 102 sqm of synthetic turf. These improvements have turned the outdoor area into a welcoming environment where participants can enjoy the hub’s established garden—making it the perfect space for entertaining, sports activities, and relaxation.
The timing of this project’s completion could not have been better, with Families Day this year being held ‘On the Green.’ As the before-and-after images show, the transformation is remarkable.
Site Manager Lisa Van Sitter said of the hub’s upgrade:
The turf looks amazing. Everyone is feeling so good today at our Families Day—there were a lot of laughs and smiles out on the Green. Thank you for making this happen.
The impact of this grant funding will be felt for many years. With an anticipated lifespan of over 10 years, this facility upgrade provides long-term benefits to local hub participants. This is just one of many essential grants and funds that help fill the gaps in supporting our services.
