Get Work Ready program launch

We are excited to announce that after a successful pilot based out of the Toowoomba L&L, we will be expanding to Labrador, Ipswich and Windsor L&L’s, with GWR programs also being offered at those sites from January/ February 2022.

What is Get Work Ready?

Get Work Ready is a learning program designed to support and enable young adults (17-35) with intellectual disability to transition from school or other activities, to their chosen employment pathway.

Who can enrol in the program?

As a mandatory requirement eligible program participant are people with an intellectual disability, autism or down syndrome aged 17-35. Potential candidates may also be required to undertake a standard skills and cognitive assessment prior to be considered as an eligible candidate. Eligibility is not subject to the L&Ls mentioned above.

Program overview

The program offers a total of five core courses, each covering basic competencies and experience in the following industries:

  • Administration
  • Technology
  • Retail/Customer Service
  • Packaging & Manufacturing
  • Logistics & Warehousing

It provides the foundations of being at work including goal setting, getting, and staying work ready, working effectively with others, building, and maintaining relationships, and numeracy and literacy.

Mechanics of the program

Each course will run for 20 hours per week over 12 weeks, with program days and times flexible to suit the customer’s needs.

What else do customers need to know?

Course costs will need to be covered by NDIS funding supports ‘Finding and Keeping a Job’ and ‘Core Support’.
