Gabrielle is cooking up a storm

When you think about skills that have a lifelong benefit, cooking would have to be pretty close to the top. Gabrielle, who has in-home support and works at Castle Hill social enterprise, has been taking the time to refine her skills and is making great progress.

Gabrielle’s Mum had to go into hospital a few weeks ago when she wasn’t able to walk and knowing that Gabrielle would need to be able to feed herself, Support Workers Yasmin, Sarah and Angie stepped in to teach her some basics.

Since then, she has been cooking up a storm with dishes like cutlets, sausages and mash, poached eggs on muffins and vegetable omelettes. Gabrielle said:

My favourite thing to cook is everything. I really like it!

When asked if she could take on Gordan Ramsay in a cooking competition, she replied quickly with a huge smile on her face:

No!! I don’t really like him.

Gabrielle loves going to work and said that the best part of the day is being with her friend Margaret.

Margaret is like a sister to me. When I was going through a really tough time last year, I had some personal issues, Margaret was there for me the whole time. She’s a good friend.

To add to her list of achievements, Gabrielle is also part of the Sew Incredible group, who have recently received an embroidery machine thanks to the funds raised from Home Run last year, and the Great Endeavour Rally. She says that she has learnt so much from some new staff members, but her favourite thing is teaching other people new sewing skills.

Thanks Gabrielle for being a part of #TeamPossible!
