It’s been a long time coming for the staff, people we support and their families at the new Bowen Hills L&L! Since having to move to their temporary L&L site at Geebung after the 2022 floods, there has been much anticipation and excitement in the lead up to the launch of the new hub, and it’s great to hear that everyone is settling in well!
Support Worker Jeff Cunningham said that it is great to see the people we support finding their own little niche amongst the different programs we run at the L&L.
They are using the different rooms such as the music, art and the sensory room as places to be either quiet or tap into their fascination in music or art
While people we support have been enjoying the L&L for a few weeks now, we cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the incredible L&L on Tuesday!
It’s all about learning new things, learning life skills and then putting them into practice,
Site Manager Marissa Nankivell told Nine News Brisbane at the opening.
Guest speakers included Craig Crawford, State Minister for Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services, Board Chair, Elizabeth Jameson and CEO David Swain.

On a nostalgic note, the new hub is only 700m down the road from where we opened our first school nearly 70 years ago.
A massive effort was made by so many people to plan, create and achieve this leading disability service for the community. Well done!
We can’t wait to hear more from the people we support about how they are settling into the new L&L and all the new things they are learning!
