Disability Royal Commission

Disability Royal Comission

We thank the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability (the Disability Royal Commission) for their unwavering dedication since April 2019 to provide a platform for people with disability to have their voices heard.

Our organisation has supported the Disability Royal Commission, including submitting relevant information, responding to inquiries, and participating as witnesses when required.

We have closely monitored the progress of the Royal Commission, which has informed our continuous improvements in how we support clients.  As such we are currently engaged in:

  • Improving the way we engage with clients and families, ensuring they – and their voices – are at the centre of all we do;
  • Increasing our focus on the provision of Active Support: promoting enablement and independence in the way we support clients;
  • Transforming our Endeavour Foundation Industries into diverse and inclusive workplaces focused on building the skills and confidence of employees as many are actively supported to transition into mainstream employment;
  • Continuing to reduce the overall scale of (i.e., the number of people living in) the homes we support through the My Home My Life initiative;
  • Ensuring that Supported Independent Living clients have individualised support that meets their specific needs and preferences.

We will continue to work together to identify and address barriers to providing truly client-centric services that promote inclusion, capacity building, and achievement of personal goals and potential (possibility).
