It’s no secret that we have some of the best party people ๐ in the world at Endeavour Foundation (you’ve seen the pics in previous stories) and the people we support in Central Queensland are no exception! Portfolio Manager, Sarah Miers, and the team have been collaborating for over a year now on social dances that bring our people in the Rockhampton and Gladstone homes together, and they are a roaring success!
For those who may not be aware, Rockhampton and Gladstone are about 1.5 hours away from each other, so coordinating these catch ups is no mean feat. Taking it in turns to go north, or south, not only gives our people the opportunity to socialise, but also gets them out of their routine and gives them something to look forward to. There are usually around 25-30 people who attend the dances ๐, including the local teams. Sarah said,
We have some amazing Home Site Supervisors who come and help set up the L&L when everyone has left for the day. Without them, the dances would not be as awesome as they are.
It would seem that we have some people who have a fantastic taste in music, and the old classics are always a hit. Sarah said that there are some really die hard Abba fans and those who love disco music, with a little bit of Eminem thrown in as well!
Our group of people we support love a bit of karaoke as well and have a good boogie!
The best bit is that the team work with the people we support to come up with the theme for the dances so that it really is all about what they want. Sarah’s favourite so far has been when the Gladstone crew hosted a Glamour evening, saying that it was such a great evening. You can see that Renee, Suzanne, Kathleen and Christopher really followed the brief and were more glamourous than Billie Eilish at the Grammys ๐
It’s so good to see a collaborative effort reap such great results! Thanks to the team for pulling together and making possibilities a reality!
