At Café Amore in Reservoir, tucked inside Mayflower Aged Care Home, the coffee isn’t the only thing that’s strong. Meet four standout legends showing what it means to be confident, capable, and customer-ready in the café game.

Kelly – a total go-getter
Every Thursday, Kelly brings boundless energy and a lightning-fast ability to pick things up. From fridge temp checks to frothing milk like a pro, she’s smashing café tasks with style. She recently learned to make long blacks, mochas, hot choccies and more. She nailed milk frothing on the first try (not easy!). Customers rave about her coffee skills and speed. She’s also on top of cleaning, stacking, taking payments and grilling wraps like a boss. The dishwasher wouldn’t work at one point but Kelly quickly identified the issue and learned the correct procedure to resolve it in the future. Her work and problem-solving skills are top-notch!

Sam – a pleasure to work with
Friday shifts are better with Sam on deck. He’s always on time, smiling, ready to get moving. He checks fridge temps, is learning to record them, and asks customers how they like their coffee – warm, hot, or extra hot. He got rave reviews for his lattes and is now learning how to froth milk for cappuccinos. Sam clears tables, uses the grill, processes payments and keeps the café sparkling clean. He’s got it all: skill, attitude, and attention to detail.

Sarah – works with a smile
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are Sarah’s time to shine. She kicks off her shift by organising food deliveries, restocking the display, and even participated in a food-tasting activity to give feedback on a potential new supplier. Behind the coffee machine, Sarah serves up delicious drinks (those chai lattes got high praise!), and she’s keen to master even more, like macchiatos and teas. She also tracks fridge temps, fills out forms, processes payments, and keeps everything squeaky clean. All done with calm, confidence, and a big smile.

Cindy – learning fast, showing heart
On Mondays, Cindy is all about supporting the team and picking up new skills. She helped with stock, tables, and even did the café’s weekly cash tally using the calculator. She took her first coffee order (three caps and a latte!), and while it was a bit daunting at first, she pushed through and delivered them with pride. She’s now learning how to manage vouchers from residents and staff and is eager to master tea-making next. She’s quietly capable and growing in confidence by the day.
These four are turning coffee and customer service into a masterclass of independence, learning, and teamwork.
Great work team! You’re not just making drinks, you’re making a difference.
That’s amore! (Italian for “that’s love”)
