A major milestone for Ariana

We see how meaningful employment can change lives every day. Thanks to the support of Recruitment Partner, Bree Modra at Community Solutions, former Disability Employment Services (DES) client in North Queensland Ariana has overcome challenges, got a mainstream job and increased her independence with a new set of wheels.

For over five years, Ariana was employed under a supported wage subsidy and needed high-level ongoing support. While she was keen to grow, her previous employer couldn’t provide the opportunities she needed. Bree was determined to help Ariana find a role where she could thrive.

With Bree’s support, Ariana landed a job at McDonald’s Ayr, where she glowed and showed what she is capable of, impressing her team with her work ethic, who quickly offered her a full-time contract. This was a huge step forward for Ariana. However, living 10 minutes out of town, she was spending around $250 a week on taxis to get to work. She had a driver’s license but no car and struggled to get a loan because of her previous employment situation.

Making a plan

Bree worked with Ariana to develop a savings plan, setting her up with a budget to manage her savings and expenses, while Community Solutions provided temporary transport assistance so she could get to work while she saved.

After five months of careful budgeting and saving, Ariana was approved for a loan and purchased her first car, a brand-new MG3 Auto Hatchback. Now with reliable transport, she had even more independence and stability.

“I am so thankful for the help of Bree from Community Solutions for helping me get the job of a Delivery Driver at McDonald’s Ayr.

“With this job I was able to save up enough money to apply for a car loan to get my first car, a brand new MG3 Auto Hatchback 2022 worth over $19,000.

“I love my car so much. I am now able to get to work, do road trips, and get things done easier.

Looking ahead

Ariana is thriving at McDonalds, has a new level of financial security and no longer needs high-level support. In fact, she recently exited the DES program and even saved enough for a long-awaited trip to Canada to visit her sister.

“I can save up for things and holiday trips because I’m not spending money on Taxi’s. I’m so happy having a car.

“My life is easier now that I have a car, thank you Bree and thank you Community Solutions”

A big shoutout to Bree for her commitment to making a real difference in Ariana’s life. Taylor Davis, Restaurant Manager at McDonald’s Ayr, shared:

“Bree and the team at Community Solutions play a vital role in supporting McDonald’s Ayr with hiring and training.

“We’ve employed many applicants referred to us by Community Solutions and will continue to do so.

“We’re grateful for Bree’s ongoing support for our employees.”

A big congratulations to Ariana for her hard work!
