Rally drivers from around Australia crossed the finish line on Saturday, 10 September 2002, completing an epic eight-day 2884km road trip from the Sunshine Coast to Cairns via Airlie Beach and the Great Dividing Range.
The 45 teams driving for disability at this year’s Great Endeavour Rally, dubbed the Beach and Bush Run, raised a combined total of just over $585,000, beating last year’s record by $7000! Thank you to our rally family!
Here is how each day went down:
Scrutineering at Business Solutions Maroochydore (Sept 2 – Day 0):
From the moment everyone arrived at Business Solutions Maroochydore for scrutineering, the loud shirts, louder cars, and big personalities made for a great show for the locals and employees.
After a quick tour of the site, each team had their car carefully checked over to ensure that it was truly rally ready ahead of the start line the following day.

Maroochydore to Mundubbera (Sept 3 – Day 1):
Not even a downpour could dampen the spirits of the rally family as they set off on the first leg of their grand 2022 adventure.
In pouring rain our rally teams, their families and more gathered at Bowden’s Own Premium Car Care on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast for the official start line of their adventure. This locally owned business is a long time commercial partner of ours and a major supporter of people with disability in the local community. From here they made their way through to Gundiah for lunch and then travelled to the small town of Mundubbera to camp and play a few classic games to help bring everyone together.

Mundubbera to Mt Larcom (Sept 4 – Day 2):
The rally family awoke to news of local generosity, with Mundubbera Show Society, and Three Rivers Tourist Park donating $1,700 to people with disability.
Our gathering of gangsters travelled from Mundubbera to Mt Larcom on their second official day on the road, kicking up some serious dust and water along the way.
The stop in at Mungango Pub was a great way for everyone to show off their outfits and get a recharge ahead of their afternoon drive.

Mt Larcom to Nebo (Sept 5 – Day 3):
The third day on the road saw this animated bunch of characters make their way from Mt Larcom to Nebo, with a quick stop in for lunch with the Ridgelands State School.
Students at the Ridgelands school were over the moon seeing countless Disney characters roll on up in their assortment of big, bold and bombastic vehicles, their energy helping to fuel the rally family for another afternoon of water crossings and dirt roads.

Nebo to Airlie Beach (Sept 6 – Day 4):
Rocking their superhero best, our teams made their way from Nebo to Airlie Beach on their fourth day.
A quick trip up a mountain and down again gave them a chance to show their might for the day ahead of a little something special – a fundraising car wash.
The special service on offer at Cannonvale L&L hub was truly needed after four days on the road and the funds handed over for each thorough wash helped ensure clients on-site could have a great social outing in the months ahead.

Airlie Beach Lay Day (Sept 7 – Day 5):
The fifth day was the rally family’s lay day and they more than earned it after a few big days on the road.
Throughout the day, the rally family made the most of sun and surf at Airlie Beach. Some explored local shops, while others hit the seas on a yacht arranged by one of our generous teams.
With a recharge like this, the rally family was more than ready to take on the final few days of off-road fun.
Airlie Beach to Bivouac Junction (Sept 8 – Day 6):
The rally family took the beach vibes with them after their day of rest, with loud shirts, zinc, and cartoon characters aplenty jumping into their cars to head to the first station stay of this year’s rally.
While the road today didn’t offer any waves to match their outfits, it sure did give our teams a wild ride from start to finish. There still few big splashes though, which is exactly what the rally family hopes for each day on the road.

Bivouac Junction to Woodleigh Station (Sept 9 – Day 7):
What better way to celebrate the second last day on the road than with some pirate flair.
The route between our two station stays offered up plenty of dust and thrills for our band of buccaneers, with teams really making the most of the day’s theme.

Woodleigh Station to Cairns (Sept 10 – Day 8):
One by one, each of our teams made their way across the finish line in Cairns, brimming with pride and excitement after days of driving for disability on the roads less travelled.
While there were winners for fundraising and for points scored on the road, the real winners of the trip was Team Endeavour Foundation who were handed a trophy by our second place team Wheeler Dealers. The reaction of the team, especially Kelley highlighted how even the smallest of actions can play a part in each of us living our best lives.

Thank you to our rally family, sponsors and supporters for making our 34th rally one to remember. We can’t wait for next year!
