We are looking for 12 energetic volunteers with a can-do attitude to join us on this year’s Great Endeavour Rally (GER). Employee volunteers are an important part of the success of the Rally, which is one of our longest standing fundraising events.
Production Team Leader, Mark Swift, from Maroochydore Social Enterprise is a two-time rally volunteer (2022 and 2023) and highly recommends the experience.
Volunteering for GER offers more than just off-roading excitement. It provides diverse roles, from catering to media support, fostering teamwork and camaraderie,” Mark said.
You get to explore unique locations and forge bonds with a supportive rally family. Ultimately, it’s about contributing to a greater cause and witnessing the generosity that helps support those in need.
During the Rally there are many different roles that need filling each day. From getting up early and helping the catering team to feed the masses before the driving starts to driving ahead early ahead of the pack to assist staff at the lunch spot to make sure everything is ready for lunch. From driving with the media team and stalking out the best places for photos or drone footage to making sure any gates that need closing are closed, helping stragglers or assisting the Army boys (7CSSB out of Enoggera). From helping to run the nightly activities and fundraising events to guarding the beach or the riverbank on crocodile watch and much, much more“, Mark said.
This year’s Rally is travelling from Roma to Longreach via Poeppel Corner from 22 August – 1 September (on the not-so-direct route).
If you are interested in being involved with the GER this year, please contact your line manager in the first instance. We are looking for four Support Workers to support the people with disability joining us on the Rally and eight general volunteers.
Your role will need to be covered from August 21 – 4 September depending on your location, and as per previous years, you would not need to apply for Annual Leave. After your discussion with your Manager, please contact Nathan Woolhouse in the Fundraising team for more information [email protected]. For more information on the Rally, please visit the Great Endeavour Rally website.
